Following consideration of a memorandum dated the 3rd June, 1948,¹submitted by the Minister for External Affairs with a copy of a telegram received by the Minister from Moshe Shertok, Foreign Secretary of the Provisional Government of the State of Israel, seeking the recognition of the State of Israel by the Government of Ireland, approval was given to the Minister's proposal that no action should be taken in regard to the telegram apart from an appropriate acknowledgement.
