I had a word with the Taoiseach about the proposed visit of Krishna Menon.¹

His mind is not quite so made up against the idea of an exchange of representatives with India as I thought it might be. There would be little chance of our being able to send a mission to New Delhi in the immediate future, but the door is by no means closed on the possibility of our doing so at a later date.

It would probably be a very good thing, therefore, if Krishna Menon did come over and have a talk with us. In any case, there are many things of mutual interest to discuss. To avoid disappointment, however, it would be better that Menon should not come over here with the idea that the establishment of an Irish Legation in New Delhi is an immediate possibility.
