I enclose a note received by Dulanty from the Dominions Office yesterday concerning the arrival in England of certain I.R.A. organisers, and requesting us to give them any information which would help the British to prevent these men from engaging in illegal activities. I shall be very grateful if you will tell me on the phone whether you wish me to transmit the note to the Department of Justice and what action you desire to be taken on it.

The Metropolitan Police have received information which they believe to be reliable that some of the organisers of the I.R.A. have recently arrived in this country, and that others will shortly be coming here, to concert plans for further outrages with members of the organisation in this country. The information given to the Metropolitan Police does not include the names or descriptions of the persons concerned, or the precise dates and ports of arrival. Without these particulars it is difficult to make any arrangements for keeping a watch on them on their arrival and so preventing them from engaging in any illegal activities in this country.

It would be most helpful if the Éire police could obtain any information which would be of assistance to the Metropolitan Police in this direction and arrange for it to be communicated at once to Sir Norman Kendal¹ at New Scotland Yard. It is understood that Sir Norman Kendal has already written to the Commissioner of Police, Dublin, on the subject.
