Dublin, 22 April 1955

The Taoiseach reported on a discussion which he and the Minister for External Affairs had on the 22nd April, 1955, with a group of representatives of Nationalists in the Six Counties in regard to arrangements for contesting seats in Six-County constituencies in the General Election for the British Parliament to be held on the 26th May, 1955.

Following consideration of the Taoiseach’s report, a Cabinet Committee, comprising the Taoiseach, the Tánaiste1 and the Ministers for Education,2 Justice3 and External Affairs, was established to keep the situation in this matter under review and to take any action that might be necessary or desirable.
