BERLIN, 2 July 1941

It had been often hinted in the last few weeks that war would be declared on Russia, and it was known vast forces were drawn up on frontier. Still, most expected that compromise would be reached.

There is a certain anxiety noticeable, as nearly every family is represented in huge Army, but there is great confidence that decision in favour of Germany will be reached within six weeks at least.
