Letter from Eamon de Valera to Malcolm MacDonald (London)

Dublin, 5 November 1938

Dear Mr. MacDonald,
I was very glad to learn that you had gone back to your old Department1. Having done so much already to improve relations between the two countries, I hope you will be able to see the task completed by the removal of the chief remaining obstacle - the partition of Ireland. This is bound to assume more and more importance and become increasingly urgent as the months pass. I am sure you realize that the solution will not be made easier by delay and that time is very important in the matter.

With all good wishes,
Yours very sincerely,
[signed] EAMON DE VALERA
